Prüfungsleistung & Studienleistung

ub [davies]

In addition to signing up for courses when designing your timetable, you will need to complete a secondary registration process once classes have begun in order to receive credit for them. Depending on whether you require a grade or simply a pass/fail, you will either register a course as a Prüfungsleistung (PL) or declare it as a Studienleistung (SL). The following provides detailed explanations of each process.

Prüfungsleistungen (PL): Graded Courses

A Prüfungsleistung (PL) is a course in which you receive a final grade, usually based on your coursework plus a final exam or term paper.

When?

The registration period for Prüfungsleistungen is always during the fourth week of classes.

Summer Semester 2020

Wednesday, June 3 until Sunday, June 7, 2020
from 7am-12am

Please note that the platform on which you register your PLs depends on your program.

Withdrawal

You have the option to avoid being graded by withdrawing your registration of a PL, but only if the final course evaluation (exam or term paper) is to take place or be handed in in the final two weeks of the course or later. This does not apply if you are already repeating the exam or paper. You can find more information on the GeKo’s website (German only).

Studienleistungen (SL): Pass/Fail Courses

A Studienleistung (SL) is a class evaluated on a pass/fail basis; you do not receive a final grade.

Students who do not submit an SL declaration or do so incorrectly are not guaranteed credit for those courses.

Any and all information you require in order to fill out the SL declaration form correctly can be found in your Prüfungsordnung (PO, program requirements and regulations).
